I am currently progressing through training for performing Energy Assessments and issuing Energy Performance Certificates. To complete this training I need to demonstrate to the accreditation authority my experience of surveying a number of commercial properties. I am hence looking for suitable properties in the Thames Valley area upon which to practice.

I am offering to survey your commercial premises (it can be just the floors and rooms you occupy; it doesn’t have to be the whole building if you share it with others). It will be at no cost to you and I can let you have my draft Energy Performance Certificate and energy and money saving recommendations. Once I qualify I can also, if you wish, upgrade the draft to a fully official, registered EPC for a small fee (just to cover the registration cost).

After qualification I will offering my services to fellow NRG members with a small discount on my usual fees.

What are commercial energy assessments?
They are part of the governments bid to reduce CO2 emissions generated by commercial premises. Most commercial properties – offices, factories, warehouses etc – now need to have a certificate showing their energy efficiency every time they are built, sold or let. More information is shown in this government booklet:

I am a mature Chartered Engineer who has recently joined the world of Energy Assessment.

However, not entirely ‘green’ as this follows a long and successful career in maintenance in supervisory, managerial and professional support roles. Maintenance systems for buildings, plant, services and production equipment are my major field of experience, gained in the highly regulated and technological world of pharmaceuticals. I have led and influenced many Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) projects with highly complex software such as Maximo. My general industrial experience also enabled me to develop strategies and business processes for successful maintenance. This was particularly exemplified when I was involved in Eli Lilly’s Basingstoke plant achieving the government sponsored World Class Maintenance Award.

Career experience also includes: work study, project management, production planning, equipment qualification.

As a consequence of this diverse career I can view Engineering Maintenance in a pragmatic way. I am a strong advocate of the principle that lifetime ownership of an asset and how to minimize its cost whilst maximizing its output is as important and professionally challenging as the ‘sexier’ activity of design and install management.

Summary of my Achievements

• CMMS project management including: validation, data population, data transfer.

• Significant contribution to achieving AMIS world class award.

• Established: controlled stores, mrp planning and stock control processes.

• Established planning and scheduling of maintenance work in a tight MRP production environment.

• Interpreted and applied pharmaceutical regulations to maintenance operations.

• Related maintenance to validation in a holistic approach.

It would be great to hear from you.
